Police: Unlicensed Driver Hits Two Parked Cars, Gets DWI Charge

A 29-year-old from New Rochelle was arrested in Tarrytown on July 31.

A multi-car accident on Franklin Street on July 31 at 10:49 p.m. resulted in the arrest of a driver with a DWI charge, police said.

Tarrytown Police Lt. William Herguth said a driver hit two parked cars while going westbound on Franklin Street.

Police took the driver, of New Rochelle, into custody at 11:10 p.m., with one car impounded and another damaged car held for safe-keeping.

At police headquarters the man consented to a breathalyzer test which came out positive. 

The man, 29, was charged with:

  • Driving while intoxicated, 
  • operating motor vehicle without a license, 
  • and operating motor vehicle with a BAC of greater than .08 percent, first offense. 
He was released to a responsible person with a return court date.
