Police: Water Works in Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow police received several water-related calls recently.

Water Main Break

A caller reported to Sleepy Hollow police on July 30 at 7:27 a.m. that a large amount of water was coming out from an area of the dead end of New Broadway near the fire hydrant. Crews were out there all day repairing a water main break -- you can watch video here -- but a resident called again at 7:45 p.m. to report there was water leaking out of the site again. Police sent reported "heavy water leakage coming out of ground" and again the DPW would get to work.

Off to Vegas, Left the Water On Long-Term

A Holland Avenue resident said their neighbor had water coming out from under their garage door. They called police on July 31 at 10:22 p.m. for a house that looked like it had been unoccupied for a few weeks.

Police were able to make contact with the homeowner who was on vacation in Las Vegas and wouldn't be home for another few weeks. The homeowner said he would have a key from the house sent by FedEx to a friend in order to have them enter the home and turn off the water.
