This is the second death by gunfire this year of a young adult from the villages. Twenty-one-year-old Andrea Rebello, a 2010 graduate of Sleepy Hollow High School, was killed in a home invasion in her college apartment on Long Island in May, albeit by "friendly fire" from the police officer responding to the 911 call.

A Mercy College student from Long Island was shot in the head with a rifle in a Hudson Harbor town home in early September. The death of Megan Bookstaver, 23, is still being ruled as suspicious with no updates since from local police.
