Sleepy Hollow Man Pleads Guilty in the Killing of Theresa Gorski

Christopher Howson faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison when he is sentenced in July.

The following release concerning the guilty plea of Christopher Howson in the death of his wife, Theresa Gorski, is from the Westchester County District Attorney's office:

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Christopher Howson (DOB 08/16/63) of 127 New Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, New York pled guilty today to:

  • one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class “B” Felony,
  • one count of Strangulation in the First Degree, a class “C” Felony,

relating to the death of Theresa Gorski.

On January 5th, 2013, at approximately 3:00 am, the defendant, a computer software programmer, called 911 stating that he had just strangled his wife, a part time staff attorney for Bronx Legal Aid Society, and believed that she was dead.

Police and EMS personnel responded and removed the victim to Phelps Memorial Hospital where she remained on a ventilator for four days. 

She died on January 9th, 2013 when she was taken off life support.

The defendant was arrested at the scene and has been in jail since his arrest. 

Sentencing will be on July 16th, 2014.

He faces a maximum sentence of twenty five years in state prison. 

Assistant District Attorney John O’Rourke, Chief of the Major Case Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Jean Prisco of the Major Case Bureau are prosecuting the case.
