Staff from the Rock of Salvation Church on Cortlandt Street called police on Dec. 28 at 10:34 p.m to report an authorized party was possibly taking place on church property. The church owns buildings at 133 and 135 Cortlandt; the 133 address was supposed to be vacant.
Officers on the scene requested additional units when they came upon a large underage drinking party in the building. Two more units were sent and Tarrytown Police Department was also asked to assist with two additional units.
Police ticketed on the scene a total of 25 youths for possession of alcohol under the age of 21. All the youths’ parents were contacted to come pick up their kids at the scene.
A church employee believed that a previous tenant's son was among the crowd and that he may have entered the premises with a key.
