A person came into headquarters on August 18 at 10:29 a.m. to report that the night prior around 11:40 p.m. he was suddenly attacked. He said he was standing at the corner of Clinton Street and Cortlandt talking with a friend when two suspects came up behind him and punched him several times on the face and body. The victim lost his prescription eye glasses in the fight and was unable to locate them. He said he did not require immediate medical attention but would be going to get checked out later. Photos taken of his injuries were taken and case opened for detective division to further investigate.
A Beekman Avenue woman reported to police on August 22 at 2:12 p.m. that she had gone online to apply for a loan from Usapayday.net. Then a woman named Julia apparently contacted her (from a 503 area code number) and stated they would need $150 to process the loan, which the complainant agreed to and sent. Then Julia apparently asked for an additional $275 before the loan money would be deposited into her account. At this time, the complainant told Julia this was a scam and she would be contacting police.
Dogs Removed From Residence
On August 22 at 6 p.m. police issued two summonses to an Elm Street resident for unlicensed dogs, following an alleged attack of two loose pit bull type dogs on another dog.
Marty Rodgers of Mount Pleasant Animal Control was contacted and would follow up to see if complainant wanted to file a nuisance complaint.
Police received an order to seize the dogs on August 24 at 11:34 a.m., but found no one home. Officers left a copy of the order at the residence along with the incidence report. At 12:16 p.m. an officer found the resident on Depeyster Street; the resident complied and returned home to surrender both dogs to Mt. Pleasant Animal Control.
