Stolen From Village Cars: Bike, iPod Touch

Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown police departments each report recent cases of items allegedly stolen from local cars.

In Sleepy Hollow:

On Feb. 2 at 8:15 a.m., a caller reported that he had found his car, parked in his Hemlock Drive driveway a few days prior, now with its door open and trunk ajar. The vehicle appeared to have been rummaged through and he said he was missing an Apple iPod Touch that was in its center console.

In Tarrytown:

On Feb. 2 at 8:12 a.m., a woman reported to police that a collapsible bike had been stolen from her father’s car at some time overnight from the Rivercliff Condos on Main Street. She said the car had been left unlocked and someone seemed to have also searched the glove box and inside the car. It was unknown if other items were missing.

On Feb. 6 at 6:14 p.m., the same woman reported that her car had also been entered into during the same date and timeframe. Its EZ pass was stolen.

How come every time I read something on here about the theft of property from a vehicle, it's because the vehicle was left unlocked? I'm sorry but maybe you shouldn't trust that your stuff is safe in an unlocked vehicle regardless of it being in your driveway or not.
