The mechanic wanted money to stop working, said a truck owner who found himself stranded and in a dispute at the Eldorado West Diner.
On March 1 at 9:56 p.m., Tarrytown police received a call from a man who said his his truck had broken down in the diner's parking lot on South Broadway. He had hired a mechanic and the mechanic had been working on the truck for several hours.
The driver reported the mechanic had not yet repaired, nor was he capable of repairing the truck. The caller asked the mechanic to stop working on it but the mechanic apparently refused.
Officers on the scene reported the mechanic was hired by the driver and had been paid $500 up front. The mechanic requested $1,100 more in payment before he left.
The driver and mechanic were in dispute about the payment, but police advised them this was a civil matter. They were told about their option to file a civil claim and were sent on their way.
