Tappan Landing Man Charged with Years of Alleged Local Mischief

Tarrytown detectives report the arrest of a local man for a series of alleged larcenies and ongoing criminal mischief in his own neighborhood.

A 55-year-old man from the Tappan Landing area was charged on Sept. 24 at 9:35 p.m. with two counts of larceny and one criminal mischief incident.

Lt. William Herguth said that on Sept. 12, the man allegedly punched a side view mirror on a parked car, causing damage. He also is accused of stealing two side view mirrors from cars on Sheldon Avenue in November 2012 and February 2013.

"We have received many complaints in the past two and half years of similar types of crimes in the Tappan Landing and Pennybridge area," Herguth said.

Herguth didn't believe the man does anything with the stolen mirrors. "It appears to be mischief," he said.

One former resident was eager to hear of this man's arrest. "As a former neighbor of that area, I've had my car vandalized multiple times," one woman to Patch.

Note: An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
