Tarrytown Cops: Boyfriend Assaulted by Girlfriend's Ex

A summary of recent police activity and arrests in the village of Tarrytown.

Not Recommended

A man was reportedly walking in the middle of the roadway on South Broadway near Lyndhurst on Oct. 17 at 11:30 p.m. 

Police found the man, who agreed to use the sidewalk. 
 
False Docs

A man reported to police that his wife, whom he is going through a divorce with, went into a South Broadway bank with a man impersonating him. The two signed for a loan modification together. 

This happened in February, 2012, with the modification effective in March of that year. The unknown person signed on as a borrower when he was in fact not, in violation of New York state law. 

The man said he became aware of this when he received documentation as part of his divorce proceedings in June 2013. Police said the complainant isn't sure who the co-signer was. 

The case is under investigation.

Possible Arson

A 911 caller reported that possible fires were being lit on the walking trails hear the Hackley baseball fields by an unknown person. 

Greenburgh PD responded along with Tarrytown Fire Department on Oct. 18 around 4 p.m. and the case was taken over by Greenburgh police.

Marijuana Arrest

Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force reported the arrest of a 22-year-old man, on Neperan Road for marijuana possession charges on Oct. 18 just after 11 p.m. 
Police said they found on him five packets of alleged marijuana.

This is the same man arrested in Sleepy Hollow for the same, and in Tarrytown recently for trespassing at EF, where he has been banned from school property.

He was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth and released with a court date. 

Single Bullet

A caller reported she had found a single bullet on Crescent Drive on Oct. 19 at 6:40 a.m. 

Police retrieved it and left it for detectives to investigate. Lt. William Herguth said it was a 40 caliber but had no further info.

Hit and Run 

A driver told police they had been involved in a hit and run on Route 9 northbound near Franklin Street. 

He reported on Oct. 19 around 2:30 p.m., saying he had been hit by a 2011 White Chevrolet which had sustained minor damage to the driver's side rear panel. 
The incident noted for the record at this time. Police said the other driver was not located.

Car Struck Pole on Neparan

Police reported no damage to the telephone pole but a car that needed to be towed after an accident on Neperan Road.

Police responded to the one-car accident on Oct. 19 at 6:35 p.m. The driver said they swerved to avoid a deer, Lt. Herguth said.

Where Are We?

It's a report that sounds more like the backwoods than the middle of Route 9, but a caller told police that there was an ATV doing wheelies on South Broadway. 

Police checked the area near the Honda dealership on Oct. 20 just before 6 p.m. and found nothing. 

Boyfriend Assaulted by Girlfriend's Ex

A caller reported to police that her boyfriend had been assaulted earlier that day by her ex-boyfriend. 

This happened on the walking path behind the post office on Oct. 20. She said the boyfriend was now experiencing pain in his rib cage area. 

Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the victim to Phelps Memorial Hospital emergency room. 

Police followed and talked to the man, advising him if he wanted to press charges that he needed to complete a statement and return it to headquarters. Lt. Herguth said he had not filed charges yet. 

Disorderly

Greenburgh Task Force requested Tarrytown PD assistance with an arrest on Cottage Place. 

The man, 23, of Sleepy Hollow, on Oct. 21 around 5 p.m. was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting assist. Task Force officers said that the man became disorderly when they started asking him questions. 

He was released with a court date. 

Affair

A Tappan Landing Road resident said his wife had received a one-line letter stating he was having an affair. 

Police said the incident was noted for the record at this time.
