Tarrytown Police: Deer in Parking Lot; Dispute over who Rides Shotgun




Road rage


A caller told Tarrytown police she had just been involved in a road rage incident and followed by another driver from Ardsley to Tarrytown.

She called on June 20 at 8:54 a.m., saying she had been followed all the way to her place of work on White Plains Road from an incident that started in Ardsley.

Both parties at the scene told police worked in Tarrytwon, police said, and said they only wished to have blotter mention of this at this time.

Wrong way

Police received a report of a driver going the wrong way down White Plains Road. 

Police got a call on June 20 at 2:57 p.m. about a silver car going the wrong direction westbound on Route 119 between the village line and the entrance to TGI Friday's.
Officers searched the area but were unable to find the car.

Who-rides-shotgun dispute

Officers report a verbal dispute was going on on Green Street near Lossee Field. The dispute was on June 21 just before midnight and was apparently over who would ride in the front passenger seat.

An officer reported the matter was resolved and all were sent on their way. 

Elevator stuck, again

The Metro North Tarrytown Station elevator was stuck with a passenger trapped in it on June 22 at 10:32 a.m. 

Police said they received a call from a woman stuck in the elevator on the east side of the station. The fire department was notified as well as MTA police. The fire department was able to help the woman out. 

MTA police said they would notify their maintenance department for repair. Police taped the elevator to indicate it was out of service.

Driving away with boot

Someone came to headquarters to report a dispute over a car boot on June 23 around 1 a.m. Officers at the scene at 330 South Broadway said a car had tried to drive away with a boot on it and the vehicle was damaged doing so. 

The registered owner was gone upon police arrival and the case was noted for the record.

Flag stolen

On June 23 at 1:18 p.m., a caller noted that his American flag and pole had been stolen from the front of his house on Wildey Street. This happened sometime overnight. 

Incident was noted for the record.

Deer in parking lot

A person came to police headquarters to report that a deer was in the South Washington Street parking lot on June 23 around 1:30 p.m.

An officer at the scene reported the deer was gone upon his arrival. 

Casket truck hits car

A caller reported that a truck had hit a parked car on South Broadway and kept going. 

The caller said she observed a truck hit a parked car on South Broadway just south of Main Street. The truck had the lettering of a casket service company. 

She said the parked car had someone in it who would be aware they got hit, but police said they never received a call from any owner/operator of a hit car.

Police searched the area and found no hit car.

Pump house deteriorates

An employee with the kayaking company operating in the Tarrytown Lakes reported to police on June 24 at 1:50 p.m. that she noticed damage to the pump house window and back door. The officer requested DPW foreman Scott Weaver to respond.

Weaver arrived and said the door appeared to have been broken due to deterioration. The highway department would work on securing the building, he said.

Seasonal ban on gas-powered machinery

An officer on June 26 at 10:49 a.m. reported he issued a village code violation for the seasonal ban of gas-powered leaf blowers to an unlicensed landscaper on North Broadway. The landscaper also received a court summons for having no license.
