Tarrytown Police: Hudson Harbor Contractor Threatens Building Inspector

A summary of recent police activity and arrests in the village of Tarrytown.

Grease Fire

Grenwolde Park backyard grillers said the had a grease fire going that they were unable to extinguish. The fire department was paged on August 8 at 8:08 p.m. and put out the fire. 

Hudson Harbor Harassment

The assistant building inspector for the village of Tarrytown reported to police on August 9 that he had been repeatedly harassed at the Hudson Harbor development.


He said that on July 2 and August 2 while working in his official capacity there, he was verbally threatened and harassed by a contractor. He shared emails with the detective division and the case was entered for the record at this time.

Big Bail

Police made a warrant arrest on August 9 of Domenick Morelli of Tarrytown. 

His original charge on May 28, 2013 was for:
  • assault in the second, a D-Felony,
  • criminal contempt in the second, 
  • and criminal mischief in the fourth.
He was arraigned in village court with bail set at $25,000, and taken to Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.

In January 2013, his brother Aldo Morelli was charged with felony violation of orders of protection at his parent's house. 

Not Fraud but Same Name

A complainant reported to police on August 12 that an unknown person was using her personal information. 

Police investigation revealed a case of coincidence and clerical error instead. 

There apparently was a patient transported by Tarrytown Ambulance to the hospital who later became a patient at Tarry Hall. That person has the same name as the complainant but a different date of birth. Somewhere along the way in her treatment, there was a clerical error. The complainant received bills that were not for her. 

The complainant was referred to Tarry Hall for help. 

Fell off Bike

A youth suffered minor injuries after falling off his bike on Neperan Road on August 13 at 4:14 p.m., police report. 

The youth was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Lt. William Herguth said he had no more information on the circumstances of the fall.

Scary Van?

Greenburgh PD reported to Tarrytown PD that his officers were out with two juveniles on August 13 at 8:34 p.m. who said they were confronted by three men trying to get the youths into their black van.

The incident may have taken place around Lake Road in Tarrytown's jurisdication about on hour prior. Greenburgh PD advised the youths to go to Tarrytown headquarters with their parents. 

At 9:40 p.m. those involved were at headquarters, but after a brief interview it was determined that the incident took place on Lake Road in Mt. Pleasant. Information was forwarded to that precinct and the parties involved said they would follow up with Mt. Pleasant police. 

Mt. Pleasant PD did not have any further information on the incident.
