At 9:49 a.m. Saturday Sleepy Hollow police responded to numerous calls for a car accident with injuries on Tappan Avenue in the Webber Park neighborhood. What they would find there was much worse.
Fire Chief William Ryan has identified the woman, who was pronounced deceased shortly after being brought to Phelps Memorial Hospital, as his Webber Park neighbor.
Cathy Zaicek, 37, was, said Ryan, a mother to a young boy who was there with her at the time of the accident. This closely follows the loss of the boy's father: Zaicek's husband, Steven, 39, drowned upstate three years ago.

Zaicek was now engaged and lived on nearby Gordon Avenue.
It is unclear whether she was thrown out of, fell or jumped out of her SUV. Her vehicle was found crashed over an embankment at the dead end of the steep street.
The state medical examiner reported to LoHud.com that she "suffered injuries to her skull and head after falling out of a moving vehicle."
Ryan reported that her six-year-old son had been let out of the car and something occurred where perhaps the boy slipped and she reached out to help and somehow lost control of the car. Ryan said she died from traumatic injuries.
Meanwhile, another neighborhood resident, firefighter Richie Green of New Broadway, while responding to that scene this morning, “had some sort of an episode, maybe cardiac-related” and crashed his car, reported Ryan. Green is still being treated at Phelps, Ryan said.
This all follows an early morning report of an attempted homicide, as Ryan categorized it, on the very same street.
Residents are saying that a man strangled his wife.
Sleepy Hollow Police Chief Gregory Camp released this information of a call police received around 3 a.m.
On January 5, 2013 at about 3 a.m. the Sleepy Hollow PD received a call regarding a domestic incident at 127 New Broadway. Officers responded and requested an ambulance to transport a female victim to Phelps Hospital. A male subject has been taken into custody and an investigation is ongoing.

Ryan said “it’s amazing both instances happened on the same block. They are unrelated but very close together.”
Emergency responders did all they could in both cases, Ryan added, but could not save Zaicek.
“This is difficult for everyone, that’s all I can say,” Ryan said.
