H-Bridge Receives Repairs in Tarrytown

Notice came from the Village of Tarrytown this week that work will begin on the infamous H-Bridge crossing the train tracks near the train station. Work started dramatically Thursday with the most heavily used side coming down toward the train station on the east side of the tracks being closed in both directions.

Here's the notice from the village:

The Village has authorized a contract to repair different components of the bridge, including steel repairs of the girders and beams, column replacement, expansion joint replacement, concrete repairs of the bridge surface as well as painting the steel on the bridge.

All four legs of the bridge will require repair and one leg of the bridge will be taken out of service at a time. The southwest leg of the bridge will be the only leg of the bridge that will not be completely closed down during the repair to that specific leg.
One lane will remain open on that bridge leg during that repair period. Detours will be established for each bridge leg closure.

It is anticipated that repairs to each leg of the bridge will take four to five weeks. As each detour is established, notice will be provided of the detour route.

What do you think of this bridge? Are you worried for your commute in and out of the train parking lots? Weigh in here.
