Michelle Obama: 'Roll Up Your Sleeves'

The First Lady urged her intimate crowd of about 120 big ticket fundraiser guests at Blue Hill Restaurant in Pocantico Hills on Sunday to get to work to help her husband win a second term.

This report is supplemented with Michelle Obama's transcript from the event supplied by the First Lady's Press Office:

Introduced by 's co-owner Dan Barber, to the Pocantico Hills restaurant on Sunday by thanking her host and calling the unique farm-to-table operation “probably one of my favorite places.”

The First Lady held a brunch reception campaign fundraiser for her husband, with her motorcade of one town car, four trucks and two police escorts, quietly arriving just after noon.

In her remarks, Ms. Obama fondly recalled how she had once heard such good things about Barber that the couple flew him out to their home in Chicago in the midst of their first presidential campaign to have him cook them a meal.

Their relationship grew from there, and .

But Sunday's speech was not limited to Ms. Obama's particular interest in nutrition and fighting obesity, rather the whole fight she was here to fund. The benefit was for the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fund-raising committee comprised of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.

Tickets for the event started at $1,500. One man waiting in his car on a long line at around 10 a.m., who wished to remain anonymous, said VIP tickets went for as much as $25,000. There are about 120 guests in attendance.

Ms. Obama urged everyone to not just sit back and enjoy the good food and leave it at that. Her speech was a rally cry to action.

"He needs our help," she said. "This election will be closer than the last one. That is the only thing I can guarantee you."

Ms. Obama said conversations with undecided voters can go a long way, and if you're in “one of these wonderful states where things are great,” go to a battle ground.

“I want you to tell people” was her repeated refrain as she itemized her long list of the Obama administration's successes thus far.

After a talk about the threat against middle class values, covering topics from education to health care, she boiled her points down to one question: "are we going to continue the change we've begun and the progress we've made, or are we going to allow everything we've fought for to just slip away? Because that’s just what's going to happen."

So I hope you all are fired up, because if you haven't noticed I certainly am.  [Applause.] I am fired up, and I am ready to go... I know that we can get this done.

Michelle, with all do respect, I do not like the change your husband is offering.

Flying a chef from NY to Chicago during the first presidential campaign "to cook them a meal "? Whether they payed for that luxury with campaign or with private funds, it is a boldface example of how most of what Michelle does revolves around food, for herself! How can she come here and claim to be fighting for middle-class values, when the Obamas live in luxury and pamper themselves in such style? There are a lot of unanswered questions as to where this wealth came from. Was William Ayers in attendance? live in luxury a

I can't believe how worried they (Obamas) are. I don't think spending a lot of money on campaign commercials would have any effect on an election unless ones supporters were sitting home, doing nothing but watching TV all day. Hmmm, maybe I'm onto something, lol.... The best thing Romney could do is run an ad on MTV and VH1 stating "don't forget to get out and vote on Tuesday, November 17th". Theresa, it just shows that they are just as arrogant as some of the past tenants of the White House, if not more. Apparently mr. obama also flies his barber in from Chicago every 2 weeks? lol.... I guess O's recent comment that people did not build thier businesses without the Government's help might hold some truth, lol...

We're happy to have Romney advertise but he hasn't come knocking! Michelle Obama happened to come here. The bloggers write what they will.

Don't forget, there is an affiliation with Huffington Post and Patch. As far as ads, I checked patch in "red" states, which by the way are outnumbered by blue states about 10 to 1. I did this simple comparison with the patch map and a map of blue and red states. Most of the ads I see are this "help celebrate Obamas Birthday, we'll pay the airfare"? There's a good chance that the engineers or techs at Patch made it possible to know where the actual viewer is with IP addresses or something to that extent, and that's why I only see Obama ads, because I'm in a "blue" state. Wish I could call someone in Missouri.

Michelle, Glad I missed your visit. Can't wait till you and Barack go back to Chicago in November. Obama is destroying this country and if he doesn't like it why don't you two leave it? I love this country the way it was before you two came to the white house. Romney in November - the kind of change this country needs and wants. I refuse to be put down by this administration because I made a success out of my life without any handouts from the government. God bless America.
