Mobile Shredder Coming Today

Protect yourself from identity theft and shred your personal documents this Saturday in Sleepy Hollow.

Identify theft is a common problem in both villages these days.

On Saturday comes another chance to safely destroy your personal papers and documents.

The county mobile shredder is making a visit to Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot across from Village Hall, 28 Beekman Avenue.

Some tips:

  • County residents are welcome to bring a maximum of 4 file boxes (approx. 10 x 12 x 15 inches).
  • Paper should be free of clips, bindings, folders and files.
  • No bound or hardcover ledger books allowed.
  • Paper generated by businesses, schools, institutions, government or municipal officers is not allowed.
  • Shred: pre-approved credit card applications, old credit card bills, receipts, bank statements, old tax returns, or any other documents containing your name, address or other identifying information.

“Old documents and bills are a gold mine for identity thieves,” the county reports. Shred before you recycle!
