At 9:40 p.m. last night, Alison Boldyrev of the Tarrytown Republican challengers reported that her party "totally lost" but that she'll try again next time.
She offered this statement: "As chair of the Tarrytown Republican Committee I, Alison Boldyrev, would like to give my most sincere appreciation and thanks to all of the residents that came out to vote in support of balance and positive change. I would like to congratulate the Incumbents in their victory and hope that they will take in to consideration the important representative role ahead of them as far as the GM litigation, traffic, and the tax payer’s needs as far as the new Tappan Zee project, to name just a few. Thank you."
At 10 p.m., incumbent Robert Hoyt said his group was beginning to pack up from their night out at 's and head home. "We thanked the residents for all of their support," Hoyt said, "but now it's time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work. Tomorrow is another day and there's much work to do."
In Sleepy Hollow the women, who made a huge campaign effort, were victorious. They were gathered with a group of supporters at Valley Street restaurant where they planned to celebrate for the next few hours. Volunteers had visited each polling station in each district after 9 p.m. to pick up the numbers before they were reported on the site of the Westchester County Board of Elections who runs the election. (Tarrytown, on the other hand, runs its own election).
Sean Roach, representing the three men of the Sleepy Hollow Independent Party who were hanging out at Dan Scott's home as results came in, said at 10 p.m., "We're just happy that we ran and proud to represent the Village in our campaigning. We will be doing the same next year. People will see their taxes go up and wish they voted for us."
Susan MacFarlane, of the Democrats, said "we're really excited about doing good things for the village and addressing real issues, quality of life issues we think will improve under our administration."
Sleepy Hollow Trustee Bruce Campbell said of their win on Facebook: "Karin, Susan and Jennifer easily defeated the opposing candidates. By nearly a two to one margin the Democrats captured all three seats and will retain its unanimous majority on the Board of Trustees. A victory for all of Sleepy Hollow and for MOVING THE LEGEND FORWARD."
