SOLD: Kraft Foods to Montefiore Medical Center

Montefiore initiated the purchase of the Tarrytown complex in September 2012 and announces now plans to move in by the fall of 2013.

On Friday, Montefiore Medical Center announced the finalization of their purchase of the Kraft Food complex in Tarrytown and their intention to move in as soon as the third quarter of 2013.

The medical center plans to move its administrative offices and about 850 employees in Yonkers to about half of the 300,000 square foot space. Officials say they will lease the remainder back to Kraft, preserving about 200 jobs.

Montefiore's current Yonkers offices will house an expanded information technology facility. Montefiore is the the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine loccated in the Bronx.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding Montefiore’s presence in Westchester and are proud to help support the economic vibrancy of Tarrytown and Northwest Westchester,” said Ed Pfleging, Vice President of Facilities. “This site is located close to our hospitals in the Bronx and is convenient for many of our office personnel who live in Westchester.”

The 300,000 square foot space, built in the 1950s, is spread across three buildings and includes a cafeteria and fitness facility. The campus boasts 700 parking spaces, easy highway and bridge accessibility, waterfront views and the RiverWalk bordering its 90-acre property.
