Photos: Sandy's Impact on Lakeland Schools

Many of the Lakeland Central School District's buildings remain without power.

The Lakeland Central School District has been closed since Monday due to super storm Sandy and many of the district's buildings remain without power.

School District Superintendent George Stone toured the facilities on Wednesday along with district spokesperson James VanDevelde, who told Patch it was difficult to get around. 

No power at: Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School, Walter Panas High School.

Partial power at: Lincoln-Titus Elementary School.

Lakeland High School, Van Cortlandtville Elementary School and George Washington Elementary School.

We just got a message from Hen Hud - Blue Mountain and Furnace Woods has no Power. Nothing on Hen Hud High school but a lot of roads in the area are still blocked. Virtual school maybe?

I just got word from the Lakeland Central School District – schools will be closed on Friday, Nov. 2. There are still five buildings without power.
