Wolfpack Recap, care of the great David Halesworth:
Wolfpack 3rd & 4th Black traveled to Pleasantville for a Friday night game under the lights at Parkway Field. The Wolfpack defense started strong with a fumble recovery in the first quarter, then Kevin Sullivan scored on a reverse play from 45 yards out. Unfortunately, the offense struggled the rest of the way and the defense faltered late en route to a 20-6 loss. Kevin Richardson made his first start on defense and showed he will be a key player in the future of Wolfpack football. Philip Marchini had another excellent game on both sides of the line, and has proven himself a player to watch on the team. With QB/CB Ben Good coming back from an injury this coming weekend,Wolfpack Black hopes to run the table the rest of the season with a healthy team.
Wolfpack 3rd & 4th White traveled to Ossining to meet their neighbor and rival Ossining Maroon at Anne M. Dorner M.S. Once again the Wolfpack started off quickly, and never looked back. In the opening drive Harrison Halesworth broke multiple tackles to score from 50 yards out. Jake Zednik tacked on the extra point for a 7-0 lead. TheWolfpack defense picked up where the offense let off, stifling the Ossining offense behind the strong play of Talon Carsto, Halesworth, William Kelly, Michael Scaglione and Danny Sullivan. After Ossining’s three-and-out, the Wolfpack offense stepped right back on the gas pedal behind some strong runs from Jake Zednik and Dylan Nelson. Then Halesworth rolled out and drilled James Welch for a 35 yard TD pass (their fourth TD connection on the season!). Halesworth tacked on the extra point for a 14-0 halftime lead. In the second half the Wolfpack’s young guns took over, and showed that the future is bright. They displayed their tackling prowess with Henry Kelly, Zachary Burnett and Peter Desimini getting in the defensive mix. The offense continued to click behind the great blocking of Reuben Bertiz, Evan Bernel, Carsto and Noel Gomez, with Dylan Nelson ripping off a 50 yard TD run and William Kelly punching in the extra point. Halesworth finished up the scoring, and a 200 plus yard rushing day with a 60 yard TD, and a Welch extra point for the final score of 28-14, and a 4-1 record on the year.
The 4-0 Tarrytown Wolfpack 5th & 6th grade team traveled to Pleasantville to play the 3-1 Panthers Friday night under the lights at Parkway Field. It was a very cold and wet night, but the game heated up quickly with Pleasantville taking an early 6-0 lead. TheWolfpack responded by scoring on the next 2 possessions with a 40 yard TD run by Danny Adair and 5 yard TD run by Terence Williams. Both drives were set up by Danny Minerva’s three receptions 30 yards and runs by Colby Martins and Jack Stroligo to make the score 14-6. Pleasantville scored with 45 seconds left in the half for a halftime score of 14-12 Wolfpack. Danny Adair continued his special season, scoring from 45 yards out to open the 3rd Quarter for a 22-12 lead. Pleasantville again scored on the next possession making the score 22-18, but the Wolfpack answered right back early in the 4th quarter with a 2 yard TD blast by Justin Hotetz. Pleasantville quickly scored making the score 30-24 with 5 minutes left in the game. The Wolfpackdefense stepped into action led by linebackers Michael Ciffone (10 tackles) and Terence Williams. With 2 minutes left in the game Pleasantville was driving down to the Tarrytown 20 yard line when Colby Martins stepped in front of a Pleasantville pass, and returned the interception 40 yards to ice the game for the Wolfpack. Special accolades to Colby Martins who kicked three extra points in the game (extra-point kicks are worth 2 points at this level, runs/passes are worth only 1), which proved to be the deciding factor in the Wolfpack’s 30-24 win! Next week Tarrytown will travel to White Plains to square off with the 5-0 White Plains Bernie’s.
The Wolfpack Red Flag team played against a tough Ossining team on our home field this past Sunday to the tune of 14-14 tie. Armani Curet continues to dominate on both sides of the ball for Wolfpack Flag Red. Curet has done it all this season for his team, not only with his spectacular play, but with his strong leadership in each and every game. Offensively, Curet scored twice on long runs, in his usual dramatic fashion. He was helped greatly by the strong blocking of Jack Macca, Luke Wuerffel, Jai Weitzen and Nico Boccabella. All the boys on the team got to run the ball in the game, and all did a tremendous job. On defense Curet once again led a strong effort that, outside of two long runs by Ossining, held the bigger Ossining team in check all day. Curet led the defense with 7 flags, Luke Wuerffel had 5 flags (his best performance to date), and Jack Macca and Nico Boccabella had 2 flags apiece. Both Matthew Plunkett and Timmy Plunkett spent most of the afternoon in the opponents backfield but just missed several opportunities to pull flags. We had strong spirited performances by our little men, Liam Grimes and John Balascio, as well. The tie brings Wolfpack Flag Red’s record to 3-1-1 for the year.
Wolfpack Black Flag team tied a tough Ardsley team 21-21
