Wintry Mix Hits Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow

Temperatures rise but flurries fall today as a minor storm hits the region.

The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns have announced no afternoon Pre-K on Monday and the cancellation of all afterschool activities as a messy, if minor, storm hits our region.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the area with a predicted mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The snow part of this equation is expected to drop off by 3 p.m. with just rain and sleet following. The high will be near 33 degrees with "little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible," NWS reports for 10591.

Tonight, the NWS predicts rain before 8 p.m, followed by slight chance of drizzle and lows around 33 degree.

For Tuesday: a slight (20 percent) chance of showers and a high near 47.
