On Thursday night, the Sleepy Hollow girls notched their 14th win of the season against Hastings for their 11th straight victory.
After almost a week off, the team showed a bit of rust, allowing Hastings to hang in through most of the game. Guard Lea Distelhurst of Hastings got to the net and the line repeatedly for 24 points.
As usual this season, Sleepy Hollow was resilient and deep, and managed to overcome both Hastings and their own errors to win 72-58. Alex Davis-Sumter scored 22 points, Grace Carr had 16, Jess Tucci 12, Jenny Bucci 10, and Jamie Volpe added a much needed 7.
Thanks to those with the whistles, it was yet another occurrence of what I've dubbed a "Forty Foul Fest."
The team plays Ursaline B at home on Monday at 7 pm. The last regular season home game is next Friday at 4.45 pm, against Eastchester, and Senior night for 5 players. Attendance is mandatory at this very special occasion honoring five straight winning seasons.
As usual, a few photos are included here. Lacking both Joe Golden's fast, hi- rez camera and his great talent, the pictures remain mediocre, with my apologies.
