Sleepy Hollow Girls beat nemesis Pelham for 8th straight win

On Tuesday, the Sleepy Hollow girls varsity basketball team defeated arch-nemesis Pelham 68-58 in a bruising game, avenging one of the team's two earlier losses, but not last year's playoff loss.  The team has now won 8 straight games.

The lady Horsemen led from start to finish, overcoming both the hard driving Pelicans and the officiating.   In 32 minutes of regulation time, well over 40 foul calls were made, with many non-fouls being fouls, and many inexplicable non-calls.

Junior Alex Davis-Sumter showed up early and often, scoring 22 points. The team's depth is apparent in every game as teammates take turns providing the needed spark.  This time it was senior guard Jenny Bucci posting 17 points and getting the hot hand from the three point circle just when the team needed her.  Grace Carr added 19 points and over 10 rebounds.

Four players from Pelham fouled out, though not for want of trying as Pelham committed as wide a range of violations as are in the book.

Next up is yet another away game in Hastings on Tuesday January 21st.
