Sleepy Hollow Girls Win Nail Biter in Mamaroneck

The Sleepy Hollow girls varsity basketball team beat the Mamaroneck Tigers 75-73 in a last second thriller on the road Monday.

Taking a 56-52 lead into the fourth quarter after leading the entire game, the team fell behind by 4 points in the final minutes, then rallied to overcome players struggling with the flu and foul troubles (another game with 40-odd fouls called in 32 minutes of regulation time) to pull out a last second win.  On offense, the Tigers drove steadily to the basket and crashed the offensive boards.   At almost 150 points total, it was one of Sleepy's highest scoring games in recent years.

Junior Alex Davis-Sumter scored 20 points, including a last minute jumper to answer a 3 pointer by Mamaroneck and put Sleepy back up by 1.  Senior Jenny Bucci was strong from the arc with 15 points, and Senior Grace Carr added 30 points.

The team is now 9-2 and heads to Eastchester on Friday for a 7 PM game.
