Aikido Inspired Movement Classes @ the JCC

Aikido Inspired Parent and Me - Toddler Class (18months-3+ years)
Tuesday 3:30-4:30, $40/month per child
Parents and toddlers work together on basic stretches and exercises. As they grow, toddlers will be able to practice pre-Aikido skills independently of parent or caregiver. Toddlers will love Downward Facing Dog, Cat and Snake poses! They will leave, empowered, entertained, exhausted and ready to settle down for dinner and a quiet night's rest!Remaining Summer Session Schedule

Kid's Aikido Class (4-7+ years)
Friday 3:30-4:30, $40/month per child
Kids embark on a life long journey of body wellness, and physical fitness in the form of formal Aikido training, including breathing techniques, stretches, exercises, and some practical application scenarios. They will leave entertained and exhausted,but also empowered to face the many challenges of youth!Remaining Summer Session Schedule

When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
