What’s not to love about camping?

There are several campsites that are easily accessible to Hudson Valley families this summer for those who like to rough it out in a tent or those who prefer a cooled cabin with modern amenities.

Blue Mountain Reservation - Welcher Avenue, Peekskill (914) 862-5275

This 1,538-acre park features trails for mountain biking, hiking and walking. The onsite Sportsman Center features recreational facilities and target ranges.

Croton Point Park
Croton Point Avenue, Croton-on-Hudson (914) 862-5290

This 500-acre park overlooks the Hudson River and offers swimming at the pool or beach, hiking trails, picnic areas, ball fields, a boat launch and fishing.

Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park
Hawley Road, North Salem (914) 864-7312

Hiking, fishing, rowboat rentals and a challenging high and low rope course, along with five lakes are all a part of this 1,082-acre park.

Ward Pound Ridge Reservation - Route 35 and 121 South, Cross River (914) 864-7317

This is the largest among Westchester’s parks at 4,700-acres and includes hiking, equestrian trails, fishing and picnicking, along with the Trailside Nature Museum.

Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park – 1498 Route 301, Carmel

Located in Putnam and Dutchess County, this 14,086-acre park includes hiking tails, a beach, picnic areas, boating, hunting, fishing and birding.

Copake Falls at Taconic State Park – Route 344, Copake Falls (518) 329-3993

These campgrounds are located in the Taconic State Park along 16 miles of the Taconic Mountain Range and share a boarder with Massachusetts and Connecticut. It offers hiking trails, campgrounds and cabins, a beach, biking, fishing, hunting and more.

Beaver Pond Campgrounds at Harriman State Park – 700 Kanawaukee Rd. in Pomona (845) 947-2792

This site has 140 spots and offers a beach, boat launch, hiking and fishing.
