Wow that month went quickly! Our guest this month at is the highly respected painter Carolyn Hutchings Edlund.
Carolyn Hutchings Edlund is a master artist known and collected internationally. Her works are in collections in Canada, England, Germany, France, Italy, Singapore, and the United States. Born (1947) in Rhode Island, she currently resides in New York State’s Hudson Valley. She studied painting with C. Gordon Harris, Nguyen Tri Minh, Franklin Alexander, and at the Woodstock Art Students League.
"Edlund’s mystical landscapes are an exclamation of wonder, analogous to running through a field on the first day of spring and throwing your hands up in the air." wrote one critic about her 2007 showing at the Sherry French Gallery in Chelsea.
"In the process of creating an image, each tree branch, pebble on a path, or wisp of billowy cloud breathes with me and me with it. I would like each viewer to stand in my shoes, feel the warmth of the sun and the cool of the shade and smell the fresh air. Yet, there is an unreachable quality about her paintings that hints at fragility and times long past. She leaves it up to you, whether the scene is a relic from your past or a brand new site of adventure."
Her paintings and drawings have been represented in the United Kingdom, Chile, Italy, New York City, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, and Virginia. Carolyn will be our guest at the gallery from 5pm this Friday June 15th from 5pm. Refreshments are provided.
