Flash Flood Alert Starts Week of Wetness

Get our your galoshes. Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow residents are in for a wet weekend that’s starting off with a flash flood watch, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Monday’s forecast predicts heavy rain and thunderstorms before midnight. The flash flood watch currently remains in effect until 10 p.m., advising that small creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets and other passages and drainage areas in low lying spots could overflow with water.

The NSW warns not to drive into areas where water can cover roadways. A hazardous weather outlook has also been enacted.

The NSW is predicting showers and thunderstorms through Friday with a 60 percent chance on Tuesday and  a 30 percent chance on Wednesday, Independence Day and Friday.
