Monday, Dec. 2

_So we've gotten through Thanksgiving. Now's the time to get cracking on those letters to Santa! Little Olivia wants a fish that floats (in his letter posted on Patch last Christmas, above), what does your kid want?

  • Tarrytown kids can mail their letter to Santa’s Reindeer Express, C/o Tarrytown Rec Dept, P.O. Box 292, Tarrytown, New York 10591, now through Dec. 17. "Santa's Reindeer Express" mail service (with the help of the Recreation Department!) will write the kids back, so please include a name and return address.
  • Sleepy Hollow kids can leave their letters for Santa in a box at the Beekman Avenue Post Office from now until Dec. 20. You can also mail letters to Village of Sleepy Hollow "Santa", 55 Elm Street, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591. They too will get a letter in return so please include a return address in your letters. 

_The gingerbread decorating contest from the Sleepy Hollow Recreation Department begins now. Bring your masterpiece over to the Senior Center at 55 Elm Street from now through Dec. 20. (Questions? 366-5109). Houses will be displayed and then judged with participation awards and prizes given.

_The Tarrytown Board of Trustees will hold public hearings tonight to:

  • "hear and discuss and act upon a proposed amendment to the Code of the Village of Tarrytown, Chapter 259 entitled 'Streets and Sidewalks' to establish time frames associated with the issuance of Street Opening and Sidewalk Opening Permits and to establish requirements for utility poles and wires installed in the Village" 
  • "to hear and discuss and act upon a proposed amendment to the Code of the Village of Tarrytown, Chapter 27 entitled 'Code of Ethics' to clarify expenditures made by the Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chiefs and obligations pursuant to the Ethics Code."

Friday, Dec. 6

_It's The 31st annual Westchester Senior Hall of Fame luncheon in the Westchester Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown with the guest of most honor, in a room of 57 other very important honorees from the region, being Hon. Lois Taplin Bronz of Greenburgh, "the first woman and first African-American to chair Westchester County’s Board of Legislators and a life-long champion for early childhood education." Saturday, Dec. 7 

_It's the 14th Annual Holiday tree lighting ceremony with music, and Santa at Patriot's Park at 5 p.m. Follow the sleigh to Warner Library afterward to tell Santa your wish and get some cookies and more good cheer.
