Tarrytown: Jazz in the Afternoon at the Neighborhood House


Where: The Neighborhood House, 43 Wildey Street, Tarrytown

When: Sunday, June 9, 3:30 p.m.

Cost: $25, $20 for seniors

Description: Come out and support your local Neighborhood House. Proceeds from the afternoon help support their senior programs promoting health, recreation and lifetime learning. Enjoy an hour of jazz by a trio of musicians led by David August on piano. Hors d'oeuvres, drinks and desserts will be served. Enjoy a preview of the Senior Art Workshop Summer Exhibit. Raffle Drawing for gift certificates and other prizes.

Irvington: Outdoor Pop-up Art Gallery and Craft Fair


Where: Main Street School, 101 Main St., Irvington

When: Saturday, June 8, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: As part of the Rivertowns Week festivities, many area artists will be showcasing and selling their work at this event, which also features children's outdoor activities. If it rains, the art will move indoors to the school auditorium. Artists include Tarrytown muralist Jett White who will be displaying the many woodcut tugboat prints that comprise the C-Town mural. He will be leading hands-on demos so visitors can bring home their own prints.

Dobbs Ferry: Barbecue 101


Where:
Curious on Hudson

When: Saturday, June 8 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.Cost: $35/person or $50/couple

Description: Check out Curious-on-Hudson’s outdoor terrace and enjoy a meal by pitmaster Steve Fretterd including ribs, beans, cornbread, coleslaw, pie and refreshments. Fretterd will go over methods and techniques for everything from setting up a barbecue to how to make the perfect marinade. There will be live music. Individuals can register in advance online. Ossining: 33rd Annual Ossining Village Fair


Where
: Downtown village, at Main and Spring streets just off Route 9

When: Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: There will be 170 food, craft, merchandise, and organizational vendors and booths; four entertainment stages; children's rides, games and entertainment; dunk tank and "best slice" contest at the Ossining PBA booth; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a blood drive at the nearby Community Center. To donate blood call 914/366-1916.

Pleasantville: Farmers’ Market Happenings


Where
: Memorial Plaza in Pleasantville

When: Saturday, June 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cost: Free to browse

Description: In addition to its weekly selection of vendors, the Pleasantville Farmers’ Market is offering a few special events this week. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Blues duo Barebones will be performing live. During that same time, local pastry chef Laura Anderson will be leading a make-your-own demonstration. Finally, chefs from two new Pleasantville restaurants—Bistro 146 and Bhog—will lead culinary demonstrations using market ingredients from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

New Rochelle: Kite Day at Davenport Park


Where
: Davenport Park, Davenport Avenue, New Rochelle

When: Saturday, June 8, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Bring your own kite or use one available at the event. There will be a 1 p.m. kite demonstration, along with music and food vendors. At noon, you will be able to view the Mayor’s Cup Regatta on Long Island Sound. The event is sponsored by the 325th Anniversary Committee and New Rochelle Department of Parks and Recreation.
