Ossining Summerfest, Seussical Musical, Barrymore at Lyndhurst

Whether you're in search of something fun to do with the kids or you have a babysitter and are planning a night out, look no further because Patch editors have picked a variety of events taking place to help you make the most of your weekend. Ossining: Summerfest

Where: In the historical downtown of Ossining at Main Street and Spring.

When: Saturday, July 27 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (raindate Sunday, July 28)

Cost: Free

Description: Ossining SummerFest, which is in its fourth year, features live performances, ride tickets, entertainment, music, dozens of vendors selling drinks, snacks, summer merchandise and crafts. The Children’s Zone includes inflatable rides, games, foods and more. New to the Ossining SummerFest this year is a sit down dinner/full service area where families can enjoy a tasty meal from local Ossining eateries.

Peekskill: Peekskill Jazz & Blues Festival

Where: South and Division streets

When: July 26, 27

Cost: free

Description: The music starts at 8 p.m. Friday and picks back up at noon on Saturday. This is the seventh annual, and it just keeps getting better every year.

Southeast: Swamp Gumbo on the lawn

Where: Arts on the Lake, Lake Carmel Arts Center, 640 Route 52. Indoors if rain.

When: 7 p.m., July 26

Cost: Donations accepted at the entrance

Description: The locally-grown and NYC-bred Cajun rock band Swamp Gumbo will close the Summer Concert Series.

Tarrytown: Barrymore Play opens at Lyndhurst

Where: Lyndhurst Estsate, 635 South Broadway (Route 9), Tarrytown

When: From Saturday, July 27 through Sunday, August 11. Curtain times are 7:00 PM on Saturdays and 3:00 PM on Sundays.

Cost: Tickets are $35 for all seats, general admission and can be purchased through www.showclix.com/event/barrymoreplay.

Description: M&M will stage the play Barrymore by William Luce in the Lyndhurst Carriage House this summer. The internationally acclaimed play is about John Barrymore, the “Black Sheep” of America's most illustrious acting family. Come and picnic on the beautiful grounds of Lyndhurst, a National Trust Historic Site, before heading to the Carriage House for performances. Tarrytown: Seussical the Musical

Where: Washington Irving School, 103 S. Broadway, Tarrytown

When: Friday July 26 at 7:30 PM and Saturday July 27 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.

Description: Come enjoy a great show based on the stories of Dr. Seuss by the Summercliff Players. There is fun music and dancing which will entertain people of all ages.

White Plains: Extreme Hooping hula hoop lesson and contest

Where: Saxon Woods Pool, 1800 Mamaroneck Ave.

When: 2 p.m., July 27

Cost: The daily rate for a county resident who doesn’t hold a park pass is $15.

Description: Westchester County promises you will learn the art of extreme hooping! Register for the contest at the pool office when you arrive. Winners will receive their own weighted hula hoop.

Yorktown: Big the Musical

Where: Yorktown Stage, 1974 Commerce Street, Yorktown Heights

When: 7:30 p.m. July 27, 1 p.m. July 28

Cost: Tickets are $19-$26 for adults. Buy them here.

Description: This is the Westchester premiere of the adaptation of the beloved 1988 movie starring Tom Hanks.  Rewritten for the road in 1998, it was and has continued to be a big hit.
