Croton: Hudson River Days

Where: Croton Yacht Club, Croton-on-Hudson and other locations

Description: Come to the Croton-on-Hudson riverfront to take advantage of free sails from the guest dock of the Croton Yacht Club as a part of Hudson River Days, celebrating the progress made in revitalizing the Hudson River and its watershed. There will also be discounted kayaking in Ossining, Croton Point Park, and many more places throughout the Hudson Valley. Hartsdale: Free Ramadan Dinner

Where: Our Lady of Shkodra 361 W Hartsdale Ave, Hartsdale

When: Friday, July 19, 2013, 7:00 PM

Cost: Free

Description: An Intercultural Ramadan Dinner, Hosted by the Turkish Cultural Center of Westchester and held at Our Lady of Shkodra Church in Hartsdale, promoting peace and harmony between the 3 Abrahamic Religions. There will be a live music performance along with traditional dancing by the whirling dervishes. Open to all; please join us!

Hastings: Ben Sollee Concert

Where: The Purple Crayon

When: Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m.

Description: Musician, songwriter and composer Ben Sollee will be on-hand in Hastings Friday evening to share his array of classical, bluegrass, folk and R&B pieces. Purchase tickets in advance here.

Pleasantville: The Wiz

Where: Rosenthal Jewish Community Center of Northern Westchester

When: Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, July 20 at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 21 at 7 p.m.

Cost: $20 to $25

Rye: Midnight Red at Playland Pop Explosion Music Fest

Where: Rye Playland

When: Saturday, July 20, 5 p.m.

Cost: Ticket free with entry fee, parking is $7 per car

Description: Up-and-coming boy band Midnight Red will be performing live at Rye Playland's Music Tower Theater on Saturday, July 20. The show is part of the 2013 Pop Explosion teen music festival. It begins at 5 p.m. and the rides will be open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. for the event.

Sleepy Hollow: Alaska's Fiddling Poet Holds Children's Show and Workshop

Where: Hudson Valley Writers' Center, Sleepy Hollow

When: Saturday, July 20, 9 a.m.

Description: 
Ken Waldman, Alaska's Fiddling Poet, will be spending Saturday, July 20, at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center in Sleepy Hollow. He’ll begin the day by performing a 40-minute show for children (ages 8-12) and their parents, which will segue into a fun, informal writing workshop. Guaranteed: afterward the kids (and their parents) will look at poetry (and fiddle music) a little differently. Somers: Volunteer Day at Angle Fly Preserve, Reynolds House Interior Demolition and Pond

Where: Angle Fly Preserve

When: Saturday, July 20, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Residents can contribute to the restoration of the Revolutionary War era Reynolds House at Angle Fly Preserve. The Reynolds House is located at the entrance to the Angle Fly Preserve, Primrose Street/Rt. 139 between Reis Park and Rt. 100 in Somers. On Saturday, volunteers will continue work on the demolition project and continue to complete the interior demolition on that date.

Somers: 'The Ugly Duckling' Musical Fundraiser

Where: Saint Luke’s Church, Somers, NY

When: Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m.

Cost: $10 per adult, $5 per child

Description: The Somers Land Trust's performance by the Reit Duo of The Ugly Duckling is a family-friendly musical event to be held on Sunday, July 21 at Saint Luke’s Church in Somers. All are invited to join them for this fundraising event. Proceeds will benefit the Reynolds Farm Area Restoration at Angle Fly Preserve and the many other programs overseen by the Somers Land Trust.

Tarrytown: Christmas in July, a Boating Festival of Lights

Where: Washington Irving Boat Club, Sunset Cove, Tarrytown

When: Saturday, July 20 at dusk. Rain date: July 21.

Cost: Free

Description: Join us for the annual “Floating Christmas Tree” of lights and ornaments on the Hudson. Along with the boating festival of lights, Santa Claus, Frosty and Rudolph will make a special appearance. Outdoor barbeque and bar on premises is open all day. Boaters welcome; call Glenn Butler at 914-438-6126. Drivers can park at train station or along ball fields and walk in.

Yorktown: Free Outdoor Movie & Concert

Where: Yorktown Community & Cultural Center Athletic Field

When: Friday, July 19 at 7:15 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Children will get to dance and sing along with Beth and Scott and Friends, who will perform until dusk when the movie – Despicable Me – will be shown on a large screen on the field.

Yorktown: Chain of Fools – Lions Club Summer Concert

Where: Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Park Gazebo, located on Veterans Road in Yorktown Heights

When: Sunday, July 21, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Chain of Fools Motown Revue is the band that will perform this Sunday as part of the Lions Club's summer concert series. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the Yorktown Stage located adjacent to the Gazebo at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center.

White Plains: Clean Indoor Air Act 10th Anniversary

Where: Black Bear Saloon, 166 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains NY, 10601

When:  Friday, July 19, 11 a.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the New York State Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA).  This statewide legislation prohibits smoking in virtually all workplaces, including restaurants and bars, ensuring that all workers are protected from secondhand smoke. Community leaders, restaurant and bar owners, health advocates and youth will celebrate this monumental achievement and recognize those who helped make breathing clean air a reality in Westchester County.

White Plains: Pizza and Movie Saturdays-Warm Bodies

Where: White Plains Public Library, 100 Martine Avenue, White Plains, NY

When:  Saturday, July 20, 2 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Watch the movie Warm Bodies in an air-conditioned room. Pizza & refreshments will be served.

West Harrison: Fantastic Summer Fair

Where: 126 Gainsborg Avenue West Harrison, NY

When:  Sunday, July 21, 2013, 1 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: The Summer Fair will feature BBQ, music, free Rita's Ices, free games, a raffle  and crafts & activities  at the Hudson Valley Family Church, located just one mile from downtown White Plains at 126 Gainsborg Ave in West Harrison.
