Alison Perry, Neighbor

Perry comes from an artistic family, holds a BFA in Studio Art/Painting, a Master’s degree in Library Science and worked previously in the journalistic/editorial field. 

Perry lives in the Hudson River Valley, NY, a region associated with the Hudson River School of Landscape Painting. It developed around 1825 in response to Romanticism, a European based literary and artistic movement (1770’s-1870’s), that eventually spread world wide. 

Perry lives in the village of Nyack, the boyhood home of Edward Hopper who used psychology as a vehicle to synthesize and support an emotional response in art. These two influences support my direction, which responds to nature and to <strong>t</strong>he transitory nature of light on the American rural, suburban and urban landscape.
