Parcel Package Theft, Arrest in the Villages

Sleepy Hollow Police Chief Gregory Camp advises citizens, in this season of online ordering and home deliveries, to be watchful for anything suspicious in their neighborhood.

Tarrytown Police recently reported an incident of alleged package theft on Windle Park. 

On Dec. 1 at 9:49 a.m., a Windle Park resident reported a past larceny of a postal package from his front steps. The package contained a watch and watch case valued at $500. Theft allegedly occurred sometime on Nov. 30 between 7:07 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. The case is under investigation.

In Sleepy Hollow, police just caught an alleged thief.

The following came in from Police Chief Gregory Camp:

On December 10, 2012 at about 2:48 pm the Sleepy Hollow Police Department received a call reporting a male subject took a package off of a porch on Howard Street and then walked away towards North Washington Street. The caller had observed the delivery of the package earlier and did not know the subject who had taken the package. Officers were notified of the incident and responded to the area. K9 Officer Vincenzo Lombardi located the suspect on North Washington Street and recovered the package. Mario Cuevas, 32, residing at 111 Cortlandt Street was placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5thand Petit Larceny.

The Sleepy Hollow Police Department would like to remind the public to be aware of their surroundings, especially this time of year. Be observant in your neighborhood and look out for neighbors. Many people are shopping on line and gifts are being sent during these holidays. Remain vigilant and if observing anything suspicious, immediately report this to the police department.
