Rivertown Runners Donates 10K Proceeds

Numerous local organizations benefited from funds raised from October's Rivertown Runners Sleepy Hollow Halloween 10K.

The Rivertown Runners announces donations made through its RTR Outreach Fund of over $6,000 to various local organizations. 

“As always, we want to thank the Village of Sleepy Hollow and all the Village Departments that assist us with [the 10K event]," said Todd Ruppel, noting, "We even had trustee Bruce Campbell as a course marshal.”

The donations made from the proceeds of the hugely popular Sleepy Hollow Halloween 10K include:

  • $3,500 to the RSHM Center
  • $1,000 to the Open Door Foundation
  • $1,000 the Community Opportunity Center
  • $1,000 to the Sleepy Hollow Volunteer Ambulance Corps
  • $150 each to both the Girl and Boy Scouts

There were also prior donations made of $500 each to the Food Pantry and the RSHM Center to answer the immediate needs of those effected by Superstorm Sandy.

RTR made contributions to the track and field/cross country scholarship which will be awarded this year.

“The RTR Outreach Fund wants to thank Phelps Memorial Hospital, all the volunteers, sponsors, runners and the RTR members for making this possible," Ruppel said.

Next up? The Half Marathon is set for March 23, 2013 and will highlight parts of the Rockefeller Preserve.
