Yolanda Johnson: The Personal is Historical

Yolanda F. Johnson performs the last in her Warner Library concert series this Saturday.

Tarrytown opera singer Yolanda F. Johnson will be performing the last in her "Inspired Song" series of Warner Library concerts this Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

The final thematic concept is: "Song as Personal and Historic Narrative." Johnson is planning "some very cool music," she said, including "Frauenliebe und Leben" by Schumann (doing the entire cycle as the first act) and then a work by her friends and living composers, Jim Cohn and Nkeiru Okoye. Cohn plans to be in the audience.

Finally, Johnson said, she is "rounding it out with a bit of Mozart and some Spirituals and a few other things - including a peak at my jazz skills with 'God Bless the Child.'"
