Moon River Grill Getting a Makeover, New Name

Beekman Avenue's seafood-oriented restaurant is condensing its name to River Grill under new ownership.

At first a few small window signs at Moon River Grill announced the place was closed for renovations. Now there's a also a big banner getting folks ready for the now-named River Grill, coming soon.

The building's owner, Gary Serena, once operator of the coffee shop formerly at this site, was outside the Beekman Avenue building last week, cutting into some rotten wood and prepping the exterior for some rehab work. Giving it a "facelift," he said. The restaurant is currently a cake-like white and pink, but not to worry: it looks to be just primer at this point.

Serena confirmed that the restaurant will reopen under new management under a name (and with a new liquor license). Former owner Bob Ronan is out of the picture, he said. Menus and other details are not finalized, though Serena promised "just a little tweaking" and estimated we'll all be able to see for ourselves in a week or so when the place reopens again.
