Antonia Singer, Longtime Sleepy Hollow Resident, Dies at 93

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be at St. Teresa of Avila Church on Tuesday at 10:00 with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

Antonia Singer, a longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow died October 12, 2013 at the age of 93. Born in Kuchyna, Czechoslovakia on March 3, 1920, she was the daughter of Anton and Alzbeta Kuhtreber Neuwirth. Antonia came to the United States as a young woman which is when she met Paul J. Singer. They married in Holy Cross Church on February 3, 1944.

During the war, Antonia worked at Eastern Aircraft and later for many years for P.R. Mallory in North Tarrytown. She had been a parishioner of Holy Cross Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors, the Neighborhood House and the National Sokols Ladies Lodge #42.

She is survived by her sons Paul of Sleepy Hollow and Richard of Irvington as well as her granddaughter Tara (Jason) Platt of Putnam Valley and her great grandsons Jakob and Lukas. She is also survived by her sister Jozulka Pestuka in Slovakia, her brother-in-law Stephen Karac and many nieces and nephews. Her husband Paul died in 1993 and she was also predeceased by 5 sisters.
