In Memoriam: Jose (Joe) Martins

Jose F. (Joe) Martins, a longtime Tarrytown resident, passed on March 27, 2013. He was 80.

Mr. Martins was born February 22, 1933 to Jack and Felicidad Martins in Hudson,MA. He was the Superintendant of Tooling for General Motors Corp, in North Tarrytown for 28 years. He retired in 1993. He was an Associate Member of Hope Hose Co. #1 of the Tarrytown Fire Department. He was also a member of UAW Local 664. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was discharged as a Corporal in the United States Armed Forces.

He is survived by his wife Lillian of Tarrytown. He is also survived by his children: Elaine (Ed) Vachovetz of Danbury, CT, Laura (Ken) Pullicino of Middlebury, CT,  and Charles (Debby) Martins of Irvington. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Marc Vachovetz,, Lisa (Tom) Kapitan,  Jodie (DJ) Vachovetz, Matthew Pullicino, and Lexi, Justin, and Colby Martins. He is also survived by his brother Albert (Charlotte) Martins, his Brother & Sister in Law Tony & Irene Vidal, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Ashley Pullicino in 2010.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Saturday at COFFEY FUNERAL HOME in Tarrytown. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington. Interment will be private. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
