Old Dutch Grounds' Bill Lent Dies Friday

A Sleepy Hollow legend in his own right died on April 19 and will be remember at the Old Dutch Church on Sunday and Monday.

The following comes from Coffey Funeral Home:

William M. Lent, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident, died April 19, 2013. He was 83.

Mr. Lent was born May 5, 1929 to Albert and Nellie Starkey Lent in White Plains. He had been retired for years but had been an Electrician with Local 3 as well as being a member of the Masons Lodge in White Plains as well as a member of the Greenburgh Auxiliary Police. He also had served for many years with the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department. He was also a United States Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Ida of North Vale, NJ as well as his children: William of MN, Ida J. Hogan of North Vale, NJ, and Werner Dich’tl of Germany. In addition he is survived by 3 grandchildren, a brother Robert of White Plains, and 3 sisters Dorothy Russell of NH, Evelyn Simonds of NH, and Ruth Moran of FL.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-7 PM at the Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 AM at the Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Old Dutch Church.
