Tarrytown Sgt. John Barbalet said the news will be big when it comes but his department is too busy at the moment with a man they've just arrested to disclose what that story is yet.
What reportedly was an attempted abduction around 11:40 a.m. in Tarrytown resulted quickly in a suspect's arrest.
Barbalet confirmed "we've got someone" but couldn't say yet what transpired or where.
On Patch's Facebook page, Joanne Estacion said she was stuck in standstill traffic trying to get through the Tarrytown Lakes area, seeing a white car surrounded by police vehicles near the parking lot at the entrance to the Saw Mill Parkway. "Glad they got him," she said.
What they got him for remains to be seen.
"We are busy and there's a lot going on," Barbalet said from headquarters where there were Tarrytown ambulance and Greenburgh EMS and police vehicles parked outside just after noon.
"It's still unfolding," he said. "There's a lot going on."
Police said they'd have more information available in about an hour so check back with Patch as this story develops.
