Police: Two Three-Car Accidents in One Day in Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow police responded to a report for a three-car accident on Bedford Road on the morning of July 12 resulting in two persons treated for injuries and one arrest.

Five officers, including the police chief, responded to the call at 7:51 a.m. along with the fire department and an ambulance.

Sleepy Hollow Volunteer Ambulance took one driver and passenger to the Westchester Medical Center for neck and back pains.

One driver was found to have an expired license and suspended registration for a failure to pay required fees and was arrested.

Chief Gregory Camp said the accident was attributed to "imprudent speed" with one vehicle and the failure to yield right of way to one other vehicle.

There was another three-car accident on July 12 at North Broadway at 8:41 p.m. Police reported there were no injuries but towing was required for a car that sustained heavy front end damage.

Chief Camp explained that this occurred at the traffic light of Route 448 entering Route 9, where the back car struck the middle car which struck the front car. He said the driver of the rear-most car claimed the cars ahead of him stopped abruptly after starting to go as the light changed. Camp, on the other hand, blamed "probably driver inattention."
