Police: Youths on Purple-Painting Spree

Sleepy Hollow Police Department reports that three youths were caught after spraying purple hair color on a car, wall, bench and village sign in and near Barnhardt Park; the youths were taken to wash their mess.

A woman called Sleepy Hollow police on Nov. 18 at 1:42 p.m. stating she saw three youths, two of them in red tops and the third with a gray colored fleece, spray-painting a car and village sign. She said the youths ran from Barnhardt Avenue towards Frances Street.

All police units were sent and found the youths matching the descriptions in Barnhardt Park. The sergeant found a car painted with purple paint but reported that the paint was a washable hair color from an aerosol can. The youths, he said, also spray-painted the wall, a village sign, and benches in the park.

All the youths were taken to headquarters for police to contact their parents. Parents came to headquarters and brought the kids back to the park to meet the sergeant for a group clean-up. The offending youths cleaned all the paint from the surfaces.
