Stephen King Movie Set Sounds Alarms

A neighbor complained several times to Sleepy Hollow police about an alarm going off at the Bellwood Avenue movie set.

Life can be stranger than fiction, or perhaps more annoying.

One Philipse Manor resident recently found himself pyschologically tested before filming has even begun at the set of the psychological thriller based on Stephen King's A Good Marriage.

As crews work to ready the house for late-May filming, a caller complained to Sleepy Hollow police on April 28 at 9:14 a.m. that the Bellwood Avenue abandoned residence attached to the Philipsburg Manor restoration had an alarm sounding ceaselessly.

The neighbor stated this had also happened earlier that week when the workers did not disarm the alarm while working inside.

Police reported that Alex Painting had a worker inside painting. The painter said his alarm code was not working.

Police were unable to contact anyone on the contact list they had at the time and they were unable to disarm the alarm.

At 10:03, the neighbor again called police requesting an update. The resident demanded the alarm be shut off by clipping the wire or shutting the circuit breaker. Police went to talk to the caller and said they were still unable to make contact with anyone on the production company's contact list.

At 10:40 a.m., police spoke with Philipsburg Manor staff who arrived to disable the alarm. Police advised the staffmember that a resident had called at least twice about it. The staffmember said steps would be taken to make sure the alarm was turned off from then on.
