Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown Cops Investigate Series of Possible Outdoor Arson

Three recent leaf pile fires in Sleepy Hollow and two brush fires in Tarrytown have all been deemed suspicious by authorities and are under possible arson investigation.

In Sleepy Hollow:

Three suspicious leaf pile fires were extinguished in the Manors, Police Chief Gregory Camp.

An officer discovered a leaf fire in front of 115 Palmer Avenue on Nov. 21 at 9:47 p.m. 

The Sleepy Hollow Fire Department extinguished it and detectives investigated. 

A large pile of leaves were reported to be on fire on Nov. 23 at 9:02 p.m. at 3 Palmer Avenue. 

A Millard Avenue caller reported a leaf fire there on Nov. 29 at 10:19 p.m. 

All three are under investigation as possible arson, Chief Camp said. 

In Tarrytown:

On Nov. 23, a caller reported a brush fire around 5:30 p.m. in the area of the sports field on Hackley School. 

The Tarrytown Fire Department responded as they did additional support just a half hour later for a brush fire reported nearby behind the First Church of Christ, Scientist, at Benedict and Prospect avenues. 

The police sergeant reported that both fires had been extinguished but that both were being investigated as crime scenes. 

Detectives investigated as well as the Westchester County Arson Investigator the County PD arson canine unit.
