Tarrytown Cops: Shoppers Misplace Cars; Full Lot

Illegal Lying

Detectives arrest a Wappingers Falls man on Dec. 19 for falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, and making an punishable false written statement. 

The 54-year-old had told police in October that someone had made amendments to his mortgage without his knowledge, but investigation revealed he had indeed known. 

Two Misplaced Cars

One woman called police on Dec. 19 at 1:19 p.m. saying she had parked her car on Broadway and couldn't locate it. Police found it on Hamilton Place. 

At 1:30 p.m. a woman reported that her Mercedes Benz had been parked on White Street and Main Street and she couldn't find it. Police found the car on Main Street by Baylis Court. 

Three-Car Accident

New York State police reported to Tarrytown police a minor accident on Route 9 by Lyndhurst. 

Three cars were were involved in the accident on Dec. 19 at 4:39 p.m., which Lt. William Herguth said was a series of rear-end collisions.

Full Lot

On Mrs. Green's opening day, an anonymous caller told police that there were a large volume of cars in the rear lot. The caller said motorists attempting to leave the lot were having trouble navigating through. 

Officer confirmed there were a large amount of cars in the lot but vehicles could move freely. There have been no other official traffic complaints since the store's opening, only some Facebook chatter about the high price of their groceries. Have you shopped there? What do you think?

Heavy Damage

OnStar reported to police that there was accident on South Broadway. 

Officers reported a gray 2012 Cadillac sedan and a blue 2012 Ford Escape had both sustained heavy damage when one car had stopped when traffic slowed southbound on South Broadway near Tappan Landing. The other car struck it from the rear.

Towing came for both. 

Man in Road

Irvington Police informed Tarrytown PD on Dec. 21 at 9:21 p.m. that a man was walking in the middle of the roadway on South Broadway. 

Police talked to the man, a 20-year-old from Irvington, who appeared disoriented and confused, and a possible threat to himself and others. 

He was taken to headquarters for evaluation. Police spoke with his father by phone who said he suffers from schizophrenia and has been refusing to take his medication. 

The father said he felt his son was a threat to himself and said his behavior had become more aggressive and violent over the past week or two. He asked that his son be taken to the hospital. 

Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to Phelps Memorial Hospital. 

Hit and Run

A person walked into headquarters to report on Dec. 23 at 5:16 p.m. that someone had hit his rental vehicle while it was parked in the Hudson Harbor parking lot for TZB construction. 

The 2013 Chrysler was struck on Friday Dec. 20 between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., sustaining damage to the driver's side rear quarter panel and tail light and bumper area. 

Police do not know if he was a worker and who may have hit it.

Towed Away Noise

Numerous callers reported a car alarm was sounding in the resident lot across from the Portuguese Club on Dec. 23 at 9 p.m. 

Police reported a violation of the village code for unnecessary noise. 

Towing was called to impound the car. The gray 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stored in the towing lot.
