Welcome to Patch's snapshot of sports in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

This week's college round up comes to us courtesy of Dick Miller: 

On Feb. 6, in a home game with New Hampshire, the Vermont Catamounts defeated the Wildcats, 63-48, with Sandro Carissimo of Sleepy Hollow scoring 4 points on a trey and a foul points, plus having 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal on the night. At UMBC on the 9th, he scored 9 points on 2-9 and 5-5, plus having 4 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals, as the record rose to 16-7/9-4.

He competed at home with Boston U. on the 12th, losing to the Terriors, 64-59, as he scored 9 points on 1 trey and 3 layups, plus having 1 board, 1 block, and 1 steal in the game. At Stony Brook on the 15th, in the 65-48 loss, he lead the Catamounts in scoring with 14, which total came on 6-11 and 2-4, plus having 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 turnovers. The record is now 16-9/9-4.

Alexandra Kaminetsky of Hackley and a member of the Lehigh women's tennis team, in a home 7-0 loss to Stony Brook on the 16th, dropped a hard played singles match to her Sea Hawk opponent, 7-1(2),6-4, after which she and her doubles partner lost their match 8-4. In another home meeting on the 17th with Mt. St. Mary's of Newburgh, the Mountain Hawks topped their guests, 6-1, with Ali winning her singles match, 6-2,3-6,10-5. Then she and her doubles partner also won, 8-6. It was the squad's second win of the season.

Gillian Berger of Sleepy Hollow and the Penn track and field team, at the Princeton Invitational on the 16th, placed 3rd in the long jump. Her best distance of 18-03.00 was just below the highest marks of Latoya James of Delaware's 18-04.00 and Sara Ronde of Princeton's 18:03.75.
