Sunday: Walk Park to Park, Tour Lighthouse

Put your walking shoes on, for the first time you will be able to take a leisurely Sunday stroll along the Hudson from park to in Sleepy Hollow.

The walkway, which will eventually be part of Sleepy Hollow RiverWalk, will be opened for three Sundays this summer. The final hurdle to opening this stretch of the Hudson was cleared when General Motors agreed to let the village use its right-of-way through the old GM plant site. 

Opening the walkway is the work of Trustee Susan MacFarlane, Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee. She says it will give village residents a glimpse into the future: “Park to Park Days will give us all a taste of what is to come, when the GM site is developed and these beautiful riverfront parks will be connected permanently.”

The new “Park to Park” walkway will be open and ready for use on Sunday, August 5th and Sunday, August 19th. On both of those days there will be tours of the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse from 1-3 PM. The walkway will also be open on Sunday, September 9th. The parks will be accessible from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on those dates. And the best news: the restrooms at Kingsland are now open again!

This large riverfront area in our village has been fenced off for far too long. Now everyone is invited to come on down and enjoy the breathtaking views along our waterfront.
