Monday, August 5

_A special Public Board of Education meeting has been set for 7:45 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administration Building for "staff personnel items," said the District Clerk Nelly Valentin.

_H-Bridge repairs are ongoing and will be for some time now so please note the detour route and drive safely. The southeast ramp is closed for several weeks, with traffic moving along Cortlandt Street below the bridge. 

_In Tappan Zee Bridge news: test pile driving will continue for three to three months between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. Noise monitors are in place both Rockland and Westchester shorelines with data available at www.NewNYBridge.com.

_ "Around the clock" dredging will also go on now through the next three months, within the tight window determined to least affect migrating and spawning rituals of local sturgeon. (Recently, workers have been moving oyster beds to safer places to make way for the work as well.) Crews will work day and night starting farthest offshore and working their way back to increase the depth of the river and prepare for construction. 

_More from the TZB team: "Limited test-boring operations will continue on Thruway property near the Irving Neighborhood in Tarrytown. The work is scheduled to be conducted between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, August 5 through Wednesday, August 6."

_Meanwhile, in light of the tragic boat accident against a construction barge that claimed two lives, the U.S. Coast Guard has issued updated safety information and recommended extra precautions. Read the Coast Guard's safety notice to mariners here.
