_In bridge news

this week, the first permanent piles are going in, with work limited to the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and, occasionally, from 12 noon to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. Here's a day to day update of lane closures for the week:
  • Monday, Oct. 21, one northbound right hand lane and shoulder on I-87/I-287 near exit 9 in Tarrytown will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage surveys. 
  • Tappan Zee Bridge toll plaza lane 12 on southbound I-87/I-287 will be closed on Tuesday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for drainage surveys. 
  • On Thursday, October 24, one northbound right hand lane and shoulder on I-87/I-287 near exit 10 in South Nyack will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage surveys. 
  • One northbound right hand lane and shoulder at the same location will be closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 25 for drainage surveys.

_The pumpkin patch 

at St. Mary's Church in Briarcliff is going strong, with daily hours through Halloween, and all proceeds for charity

_Sandwich Boards

are up for public debate on Monday, Oct. 21. The Tarrytown Board holds a public hearing for a proposal to allow sandwich boards on Main Street, subject to safety conditions of course. Weigh in at 8 p.m.

_Donate bags of gently used clothing 

(bags sorted by size and labeled, please), household goods, and certain sports gear, all week during normal school hours at the Washington Irving School for the annual Gently Used Clothing Sale on Saturday, Oct. 26.
